Quick report back:
Bags of Joy has been quite the project! Never in my wildest dreams did I think that shipping these bags filled with so many awesome goodies for the street children would be such a ride. The bags took over 10 weeks to arrive in Tanzania. I was long gone when they finally got there. Thankfully they have been stored and will be passed out sooner than later. Unfortunately, this will all depend on my being able to get the time off of work, and the finances to get there. I must admit that I was deeply saddened by the fact that they didn't get there on time, but I was reminded that EVERY THING HAPPENS FOR A REASON.
I am in gratitude for your participation in this project, and will keep you updated as I have more information.

You made it all the way to this page because you are interested in making the world a better place. How awesome is that? I love how we can use social media to bring awareness about things happening outside of our immediate neighborhoods.

Bags of Joy: Tanzania Edition is a very special project to me because I will be able to personally give every single bag of joy made to a street child in Tanzania. In a country of over 51 million people, there are over 500,000 street children. These children have been abandoned by their parents and left for the streets to raise them.
I asked my friends to make bags filled with hygienic/school/art supplies and some fun finds. They snapped! My expectation was 50, I now have 100 bags. I set an expectation and God exceeded it. This is just God reminding me that if He gives you a vision he will also provide to make that mission complete and then some.
Currently, I am in the final stages of collecting the 100 bags that my friends and their friends put together. I will be able to see the joy that my family and friends have infused into the bags in the faces/spirits of the children when they open it up and see all of the goodies. My people have written letters and taken a picture so that the child can connect to them. My goal is to take a picture of the children with the bag and send it to the donor.

I am truly excited about sharing a vision that was placed in my heart last month. On April 22nd, Earth Day, I saw a vision of a bag filled with all kinds of goodies. Joy overcame me. I knew that this BAG would bring JOY to the street children I will be working with in Tanzania, Africa this summer. Throughout my Global Hip Hop Healing Missions, I have always raised funds in order to do musical/socio-emotional projects with them. This time around I want to make the mission even more intentional and intimate. Sometimes setting up a gofundme.com campaign is impersonal. Don’t get me wrong, it is one of the best fundraising tools out there, it gets the job done, but the people who donate don’t truly get to see or feel what happens on the other side. There is something truly special about being able to connect the donor with the donee. I would like to be the bridge to make this connection happen. I would love to be used as a vessel to bring YOUR Bags of Joy to a child in Tanzania’s streets.
My spirit is inspired by Romans 15:13 "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." This verse is the reference verse for this project. If you get a chance, please read Romans 15 in its entirety. Breathtaking words of wisdom for this particular movement in my life, hopefully OUR life.
